Geographer and Windsock at the Lost Site of The Point of Beginning (northern bank of the Ohio River, Ohio/Pennsylvania border)
The geographer is Dr. Brad Shellito, Associate Professor of Geography at Youngstown State University, and the windsock is 5'6" long - the average height of a male in the 18th century. Thomas Hutchins, the first geographer of the United States, drove a stake in 1785 near where Dr. Shellito stands in the image - maybe exactly where Dr. Shellito stands. The windsock gauges natural phenomena at the site while referencing a pivotal, historical human presence at the site.
